To:
Chief Superintendant Karadi
Commander of the Israeli Police
National Police Headquarters
Jerusalem
Re: Cessation of participation
Sir,
We, a group of volunteer policemen from the Lower Galilee, have for many years considered it our duty to contribute to our country and our community in every way possible, out of an honest commitment to law enforcement and the maintenance of order in the country.
However, in view of the current situation, with the Israeli Police taking upon itself to carry out tasks which are nothing short of ethnic cleansing and the brutal expulsion of innocent Jews from their homes, we feel that your organization is carrying out acts which do not accord with the purpose for which we volunteered.
Furthermore, we fear that in the not-so-distant future we will turn out to have been part of an organization that took part in patently illegal activities, crimes against humanity, and we will not be able then to say that we did not know.
We know for a fact that many volunteers, including ourselves, are truly fearful of the terrible social and national consequences of the planned expulsion, if God forbid it will be implemented.
We therefore have no choice but to inform you that for the time being we are suspending our participation in any and every activity of the Israeli police force.
Sincerely yours,
Sharoni Yedidiya, Sdeh Ilan
