Subject: Emergency Winter Clothing Drive, Toys, School supplies for new Israeli homeless from Gush Katif and Northern Shomrom

No matter what your political position was on the disengagement, if  you
were for, against or silent, the end result is that there are some 8,000
plus people, who are now homeless and without access to their  possessions.
As Israel's winter weather is quickly approaching this  new community of the
homeless is in need of our help.

We have an opportunity to provide a great "chesid" to these people by
sending an airlift of clothing, winter clothing, rain gear, and snow  gear
of all sizes from infant to adult, petite to full size clothing.

Many of the people who lived in the year-round warm climate of Gaza  are
now placed in the Golan Heights where the winter snow will be  three or more
feet deep. Others are in Jerusalem or Natanya where the  winter cold, wind
and rain will last for months. These people are  simply not prepared for the
weather conditions that they are about to  confront.

I came up with the idea of an airlift but the technical problems and  costs
were overwhelming. Suddenly, solutions started happening and  now, Israel
will allow this airlift to be processed without taxation.
The airlift will be met when it lands in Tel Aviv and the cargo will  be
organized and distributed to the proper people within hours. These
solutions were made possible thanks to the Israel Homeless Association which
will be handling this airlift. It is now up to us to make this  airlift a
historic success.

The need list includes, shoes, socks, underwear, T-shirts, diapers,  baby
supplies, pants, dresses, shirts, slacks, hats, raincoats,  umbrellas,
sweaters, winter coats and basically everything that you  can think of.
Clothing is needed for all age groups, from infants to  seniors. Shabbos and
holiday clothing is also appreciated. Women's  clothing is highly requested
and I expect that applies to the juvenile age bracket as well. Cold weather
shoes are really needed since most
of these people only own open toe sandals.

We need to collect toys, games, school supplies, pencils, pens, paper,
coloring books, crayons, stuffed animals, infant toys and equipment,
strollers, high chairs, cribs and all other infant needs, sports gear,
balls, bicycles, tricycles, air pumps.

If you have access to electronics and computers, the need for that is  also
of prime importance. Electronics and computers need to be 220V  adaptable.

In order to make this clothing and equipment drive successful, I will  need
your help with providing contacts of your friends and associates  who may be
in the clothing business, toy business, electronic and  computer business
and would be interested in donating large or even  small quantities.
Everything donated will be a tax deduction.

We need to find someone with available warehouse or storage space so  that
the items can be gathered and stored for no more than a few days.

We need someone who has access to small, medium or large trucks for
collecting the clothing and equipment.

We will also need able body volunteers for moving all the donations.
Expect a lot of lifting.

We will need some financial contributors to help pay for some of the
supplies that we may not get donated as well as to cover the costs of
insurance and if necessary equipment rentals.

I will provide my phone number and email address as the immediate contact
information.

We already have received a large donation of clothing. It is just waiting
to be picked up.

As soon as I get the helpers, the trucks, and the storage space, we  will
be ready to make this project happen within a very short time.

Israelis needs these items ASAP so as soon as you can help or know  someone
who can help, please call right away.

El Al and British Airways will be serving as the cargo carriers for  this
airlift. They are giving us their cargo space free of  charge!!!! We want to
thank them for helping us is such a major  way. This airlift could not
happen without their assistance. I  encourage all of you to patronize their
services.

As soon as you have clothing and other useful articles to donate, call me
and we will get a pickup or drop off arranged.

As soon as you can refer an owner or principle manager of a clothing
company who could commit to donating, call me.

Please spread the word to all your contacts as quickly as possible.

New items are great but good condition used items are totally wonderful.

Please spread the word in your synagogue, at Yom Kippur services, in  your
work place, community organizations and among your friends.

Thanks to all of you for making this project blossom.

Wishing you and your family a healthy and meaningful new year,

Shana Tovah,
